How to Play PS5 Games on Your Phone with PS Remote Play (2026)

PS Remote Play lets you play your PS5 (or PS4) games on your iPhone or Android phone, streamed from your own console, with your DualSense in your hands. It's free, it's made by PlayStation, and it takes about ten minutes to set up the first time. Here's exactly how.

TL;DR

  1. On the PS5: turn on Remote Play and allow network features in Rest Mode.
  2. On the phone: install PS Remote Play and sign in.
  3. Pair your DualSense to the phone over Bluetooth.
  4. Connect to your PS5 in the app and play.

What you need

  • A PS5 or PS4, connected to the internet (wired or Wi-Fi).
  • A phone: iOS 14 or later, or Android 9 or later. To use a DualSense you need iOS 14.5+ or Android 12+.
  • A controller: DualSense, DualSense Edge or DualShock 4.
  • Internet: PlayStation recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download, and 15 Mbps for the best experience. That applies to your home connection (upload) and wherever you are (download).
  • A PlayStation account, the same one on your console.

Step 1: Set up your PS5

  1. Go to Settings → System → Remote Play and turn on Enable Remote Play.
  2. So you can start playing while the console is in Rest Mode: go to Settings → System → Power Saving → Features Available in Rest Mode and turn on Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning On PS5 from Network.
  3. Put the PS5 in Rest Mode (not fully off) when you leave.

On a PS4: enable it in Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings, set the console as your primary PS4 under Account Management, and turn on the same Rest Mode network features.

Step 2: Install the app on your phone

Download PS Remote Play from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with your PlayStation account.

Step 3: Pair your DualSense

  1. With the controller off, hold the PS button and the Create button together until the light bar starts flashing.
  2. On your phone, open Settings → Bluetooth and choose DualSense Wireless Controller.

Tip: to go back to the console later, plug the controller into the PS5 with a USB cable and press the PS button.

Step 4: Connect and play

Open PS Remote Play, choose PS5, and the app finds your console and wakes it up. The first connection takes a minute; after that it's quick. Everything you own on the console is playable, including the disc in the drive.

Playing away from home

  • Remote Play works outside your home network, as long as the console stays connected in Rest Mode and your home upload speed is good.
  • To use mobile data, in the app go to Settings → Mobile Data → Use Mobile Data. PlayStation warns that Remote Play uses a lot more data than most video streaming, so watch your allowance.
  • Some DualSense haptic effects vary or aren't available on phones.

Fixes for common problems

  • Can't find the console: check both are signed into the same account and Remote Play is enabled on the PS5.
  • Stutter or blur: move closer to the router, switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, or pause big downloads at home.
  • Controller not listed in Bluetooth: repeat the PS + Create hold until the light bar flashes quickly; check your iOS/Android version.

Once it's running, the only awkward part is the phone. The Game Armour Mobile Mount clamps onto your DualSense and holds phones up to 110 mm wide, case on, with a geared metal grip and every port open so you can charge while you play. It also fits Xbox Series X|S and Elite Series 2 controllers.
